The Olympic Games
             In 2008, Singapore was depending on its table-tennis players to bring back the country's first Olympic medal in 48 years. The 2008 Olympic Games were held in Beijing, China.   
           The team from Singapore played against the United States in its opening match. The Singapore team, led by Captain Li Jiawei, was in great form and won the game. The score was 3-0.
            Li Jiawei said that the Singapore team was determined to win. This fighting spirit of the women paddlers finally paid off. Singapore won an Olympic medal!

Sepak Takraw
            It was said that sepak takraw was brought to Peninsula Malaya by an Indonesian prince.
            One day he was attacked by the army of the Sultan of Palembang. He fled to Malacca and hid in that Sultan’s palace. Every day he spent his time playing with a rattan ball in the garden. Later, other people joined him in playing the game too. This game later became known as sepak takraw.
